NEW YORK WITH KIDS

Another streamlined approach to NYC, but this time with kids.

There is something special about bringing little ones to classic, sometimes cheesy spots, but I like to throw in a few newer additions, as well. Some highlights below…

PLAY

LITTLE ISLAND

A spectacular park over the Hudson that is not only worthy of a romp for the kids, but is an architectural gem for us big kids to enjoy.

WOLLMAN RINK

If visiting in the winter, ice skating in Central Park surrounded by views of Midtown Manhattan is classic NYC fun.

ELOISE AT THE PLAZA

A generational classic, Eloise has a beautiful portrait in The Plaza hotel and a precious mailbox for children to send her notes. The hotel also offers an Eloise afternoon tea, and if you want to go all out, you can stay in the Eloise Suite.

KINOKUNIYA

The coolest Japanese bookstore that feels more like a department store with all the Japanese trinkets you could ever want.

LEARN

NEW YORK PUBLIC LIBRARY - STEPHEN A. SCHWARZMAN BUILDING

This particular New York Public Library location’s Beaux-Arts building is spectacular to roam and holds excellent exhibitions for little eyes to learn and ponder.

THEATRE

Probably too obvious to state, but a good, clean broadway show is a can’t miss when bringing children to the city, especially for the first time.

EAT

NAMI NORI

A super chill and chic temaki bar serving up inventive hand rolls for kiddos and those with more developed tastebuds alike.

TAVERN ON THE GREEN

A memorable city classic that feels like an extra special dining experience with spectacular service for children. Follow it up with a carriage ride through the park.

GRAY’S PAPAYA

For an obligatory New York hot dog

MAMAN

With multiple locations around the city, if you’re suddenly in need of sustenance, these cafes never disappoint.

SERENDIPITY 3

Although it has become a bit of an attraction, after a long day roaming the city, this whimsical cafe is a fun stop for little ones to indulge in a frozen hot chocolate.

ELLEN’S STARDUST CAFE

The most tourist-y of the bunch, but very much worth the stop - a highly entertaining cafe where servers (broadway hopefuls) sing and dance around during your meal. Kids will watch in wonder.
