SENTIMENTS ON TRAVEL WITH CHILDREN
I’m a firm believer in traveling with children, no matter the age. Some may find it pointless and inconvenient, but I believe it is shaping and influential for children of all ages to be exposed to environments outside of their everyday - be it a day trip to an interesting town not far from home, a roadtrip to a neighboring state, or exploring an entirely different culture.
Before having children, travel looked a lot different. Time allowed for hopping from town to town, exploring cities top to bottom to find stand-out mom and pops, eat delicious food, explore museums and finds treasures at both well-curated or what I like to call maximalist (a.k.a. disorganized) shops.
Now, whether it be because I’m only there for a short visit or traveling with my children and short on time and flexibility, I have found there’s an art to maximizing travel. Much of it has to do with setting expectations (usually for myself!) and prioritizing. Keeping it minimal is essential, be it the size of the town or in how much I plan to do. Rather than extensive lists, I’ve pared down my travel approach to just a few of my favorites stops with the bite-sized itineraries that will follow.
